time 2 care - excerpt from the 60-digit cycle

60-digit cycle of the celestial and terrestrial branches

A pictographic, numerological system

The 60-digit cycle is further represented here by a pictographic, numerological system of 10 celestial stems and 12 earth branches, which makes it easy to use.

The concept of the 10 heavenly stems and 12 earth branches is used in many ways within traditional Chinese science, for example in the Chinese lunar calendar "Wannianli", also known as the calendar of 10,000 years.

In simple terms, the 10 celestial stems and 12 terrestrial branches together form a pictographic numerological system of 60 different numbers or states. These 60 numbers are a cycle that repeats itself endlessly and at the same time contains a phenomenological meaning within Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) as well as Traditional Chinese Chronobiology and Psychology (Bazi Suanming).

HsEz is used to express time and the numerologies are based on the traditional Chinese world concepts of yin and yang, heaven-earth-man (tian di ren) and the five elements (wuxing).

To simplify it for Western use, the original version is converted into the Pinyin transcription using the 5 phases of change and Yin & Yang and numbered using the Arabic numeral system.

10 sky trunks

The heavenly stems (HS) are represented by the elements:

  • H = Wood
  • F = Fire
  • E = Earth
  • M = metal
  • W = Water

broken down into yin (-) and yang (+).

12 earth branches

The earth branches (EZ) are also represented by the elements:

  • H = Wood
  • F = Fire
  • E= earth and E2 = second earth
  • M = metal
  • W = Water

broken down into yin (-) and yang (+).

In addition, there are 2 further earth branches (E2) that form the extension. These are created by the 4 climate phases of spring, summer, fall and winter, with the earth forming the middle and thus the last 18/19 days of a season.

HSEZ decryption - the codex

Let's take a closer look at this concept.
If you combine the 10 celestial branches consecutively with the 12 terrestrial branches, you get the following celestial trunk and terrestrial branch combination (HsEz) or coding, which is shown and named as follows:

+H W+ = Yang Wood Water Yang
-H E- = Yin Wood Earth Yin
