Essential oils & chakras

So why are we even looking at another system that originates from Indian Ayurveda and at first glance has nothing to do with our topic?

Complement or contrast?

The Qi that flows in the physical body is controlled and mapped by the meridians and acupuncture points devised by the ancient Chinese. The Qi that spreads from the body into the auric field is described within the Ayurvedic healing system of ancient India.

The auric field consists of lines of force, which are called "nadis" in Sanskrit. The place where these lines intersect and form energetic centers is called a "chakra". The word means "wheel" and describes a vortex in the energy field that serves to connect the inner aspect of a person with the outer realm.

The seven main chakras are vortices in the energy field that connect the acupuncture system on the inside with the different levels of the aura on the outside, thereby enabling the integration of body, mind and soul.

Although the conceptual systems of these two cultures are very different, they can be easily understood, connected and integrated from an acupuncture perspective.

Two cultures complement each other...

In fact, the human energetic system is a composition of these two types of energy fields, one of which exists in the body and the other around the body. The chakras allow the acupuncture system and the aura to communicate with each other and have a great importance for each other. This is why these two systems complement each other, even though they come from 2 different cultures.

The center of each chakra vortex lies deep within the physical body in what in acupuncture is called the dantian or elixir field. These dantians are particularly important areas where qi is cultivated and transformed from lower to higher states within the body, similar to what happens through the chakra between the body and the aura in the external environment. Thus, comparisons can be drawn between these two systems and a connection can be made between the 7th dantian and the 7th chakras.

So why do we talk about chakras and not dantians?

The concept and significance of the chakras has already arrived in our culture, so to speak, and is well known. The concept of the dantian, on the other hand, is mainly found in the field of life-prolonging techniques (such as acupuncture, Tai Chi, Qigong etc.), but is generally rather unknown. In order to better understand the classification of essential oils and to make it easier to interpret their possible applications, we use the concept of the chakras here, even if it originates culturally from the Ayurvedic art of healing.

What can the concept of chakras or dantian be used for?

The 7 chakras as well as the dantians enable a local allocation in the physical body. This means that when imbalances occur, parts of the body can be specifically localized and treatment, e.g. with essential oils, can be carried out at these points.

Assignment of chakras to essential oils

Generally speaking... each chakra is thematically assigned to a specific area. The same applies to essential oils. Through the assignment, an area can be localized on the physical level, which can be treated with the help of the appropriate essential oils in the case of certain imbalances.

On the one hand, this assignment simplifies the possibilities of a quick and targeted application, but on the other hand, not every oil can be inserted into this "simplified system". Therefore, only the very clear assignment of essential oils to one or more chakras is given here. Essential oils without a classification listed here may also have a connection to one or more chakras, but are not suitable for this systematization.

The classification of the oils

According to this approach, the essential oils can be classified as follows:
